Some of my students' outputs
I am a big proponent of the integrative and applied teaching and learning methods. My students have developed some award-winning civic engagement projects. Here are some recent ones.
The Refugee Show and Tell Project
Social Movements, Social Media & Global Change
Students in this social movements course designed and implemented a campaign to challenge stereotypes about refugees and to demand a fairer and more compassionate refugee and asylum policy. Within only a couple of months, the campaign went on to draw thousands of followers on social media as well as some important speaking invitations.
Facebook Global Digital Challenge: Women Against Violent Extremism

Students in this course designed and implemented an award-winning campaign to challenge Boko Haram's use of female suicide bombers in their missions. The campaign won second place in the Facebook Global Digital Challenge out of 160 universities in 70 countries. The campaign reached over six million people worldwide and was featured in Facebook's Counterspeech global case studies.
P2P Challenging Violent Extremism: I am a Believer

Students in this course designed and implemented a social media campaign to challenge violent extremism in Northeast Nigeria. Students on the course also developed Beliepedia - a digital tool to compare Biblical and Qu'ranic texts on some key topics on the human condition. The online tool helped to create sustained conversations between the two faiths in Nigeria. The #IAmABeliever campaign reached over 3 million people and was featured in Facebook's Counterspeech global case studies.
